Some interesting information: The Oliver Typewriter is one of the most remarkable machines in history. It is a true pleasure to own one of these beautiful machines. Thomas Oliver, a Canadian minister is said to have invented the typewriter so his sermons were more legible.
The famous "down strike" design means the print is visible to the typist as the text is being entered. The Oliver Typewriter Company began operation in 1895 in Chicago, Illinois and continued production for over thirty years until a British company bought the brand in 1928. Production of all Oliver typewriters ended in May 1959.
If you are fortunate to own one of these machines, make sure you keep it cleaned and oiled. It will last another 100 years.
